Dan, do you think that you can create a Canadain sub-forum under Real Estate in the United States forum? Canadians do have different real estate laws. We also have a Privacy Act that makes things tricky to get homeowner information.

Are there any other canadians here?

Consider it done! Canada has been added as the last entry in the states forum!:praise:

Why Last?????????????????

:sm009: :sm101:

Because it is an addition! All new entries will go down the list in the order they are incorporated. I tink dat tis fair!

I have not done investing YET there but will be soon.

I am a Canadian who married an american and came out of the snow.

I was from the Toronto area so I know the southern part of Ontario quite well.

If I was there I would probably look into St Catharines or the Fort Erie market though being that close to the Falls and yet a distressed area for value because of the lack of jobs and mainly focused on Falls or fruit industry.

I would also look at Guelph or Fergus as they are VERY LOW in crime rates and the values stay there with a constant climb. K-W is an area which is flimsy but has lots of potential if your doing the row housing as the University and the growing surroundings.

Now going East I know the coast as I lived in PEI for awhile and that is nice too.

Go West and I dont have a clue except stay away from East Edmonton. LOL :SM083: :smiley5:

I am from southern ontario. I was raised in Kitchener. Lived in St. Catharines part time for three years (i was attending college in Lindsay - north of Toronto).

I would have to say that K-W market is growing incredibly. My mother is a realtor in the area and is constantly amazed at the growth.

I am not looking to invest in K-W just yet since i don't live there anymore. I would like to move back there eventualy.

I know what it is like to be homesick for Canada. After graduating college i got a job in Chicago. That was such a culture shock! I missed canada so much that only 2 years later i moved back.

Oh, and to let you know, it was still snowing here on May 2! I made a note of that since i have never seen it snow in May.

So are you planning to move back to Canada or just invest?

I am most defintely NOT moving back to Canada....I will just keep my citizenship and free medical thanks. When I hit the age of retirement I may come back to milk the government long enough to get social security and place it to out of country status.

As far as investing in Canada.... I am looking into it and working with some relatives on expanding my business there as well as REI. Time will tell as I am not in any hurry to go back to the snow nor let the government get anymore of my money through taxes there.
