Greetings All:

I am in the process of locating a reliable and reasonably priced RE attorney and have formulated a few topics top bounce off the RE Attorneys that I call in during a screening process.

However, since I am new to this, and I am trying to find what I should be expecting from an Attorney, I wanted to put this post out there for any input from people who have been dealing with RE Attorneys, with a question of:
- What screening questions should I be presenting these RE attorneys that would help me determine if they are able to do what I need them to in regards to: supplying all RE transaction related contracts, advisory for RE transactions, and accompanying through any closings.

So I am asking the community, if they have any recommendations of questions I might want to ask when I sit down, or call these attorneys to find out if they would be able to help me to my best interest.

Last few comments, I have also thought of other topics I might want to make sure the RE attorney I go with would be able to assist me in information regarding:

- Property insurance liabilities
- Corporation/LLC information
- Title information of perspective REI's.

Any other topics, questions, or advise anyone might be able to throw at me that I should make sure the perspective attorney would be able to handle, or knowledgeable about, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Max

Here is a list of basic questions to ask. It can get you started and you can throw whatever you want into this list.

What sort of real estate do you specialize in?

Do you work with investors?

Do you invest in real estate yourself?

What is the average turnaround time for a contact in your office?

What do you charge to write a purchase/sale contract?

Do you do all of your own title work?

Do you regularly do a code enforcement search?

What is your average response time to your client’s calls?

If you are not available do you have an assistant that may be able to assist me at times?

What are there standard fees? (title searches, documents, calls?)
