OK, this is personal ! When ever we hit the cold winter, snow time the stupid toilet tries to over flow every single time.
Can I tell you how much I HATE plunging the stupid thing every time you flush. Let alone when guest use the bathroom. OYYYYY
The stool has been snakes, it has been torn off and snaked. They have checked for roots in the pipes, finding nothing but presenting a great big bill.
HELP !!!!! Did I say I hate plunging the toilet?

Septic system or city sewer Lisa?
I'm guessing when your talking roots that it is city with the main running to the street.
I first would ensure the plumbing vent leading to the roof isn't plugged with snow, ice, leaves etc...
If everything is rooted out clear to the street then odds are, the problem is either indirect drain piping which slows things down, Cracked crocks leading to the street which collect debris and lets dirt back in, poor flush pressure or the vent not allowing the venturie effect.
Those are some ideas that come to mind quickly on this one. :SM137:
p.s. Lisa here is a great site my friend Jerry has going. If no one comes through for you here then by all means let Jerry have a shot!
