Can you all please shoot me some ideas about where to meet people in REI? I have been to various sites and founds groups which meet at various times during the month, or every other month, but I am looking for more frequent meetings. How about chatt rooms? Shoot if I could meet enough people here in Dallas I would have poker night or something once a week. Anyway, I am trying to find people that meet reqularly online or off. All help is appreciated!

Don't go running off on us now but here are three places you might put up a message indicating your looking to network and meet-up in a real physical atmosphere.

Don't worry I am not going anywhere. I enjoy this site very much. I definitely find the best knowledge on this site. What I do not find to much of is Dallas people looking to meet and network.

I have met some great investors at:

Christian business men's association (this is not like church)
Chamber mixers
City and county meetings

I watch for any major social function and show up with business cards in hand.

Way to network fella's that's making good use of these boards here. John just through you a bone as well, what he said can be of major benefit when you play your (business) cards right!

With 225 +/- well dispersed members here, this is hard to do; but, about five years ago (at another LL site), I started something I'll never regret. I arranged a get-together for mid-west LL's. The idea met with such great success that others all over the country are now doing that. I could ramble for an hour and regret not saying enough about how great this can be. One example, thanks to our get-togethers, is that I now have some best friends I'd otherwise never have known.

I'd add that I'm putting together another get-together for Feb. 12th in Merrillville, IN (about 10 miles south of Gary, IN). If there is anyone here interested in joining us, please contact me at askaldo@wi.rr.com for info. I expect 20-30 midwest LL's to be there including one who, if possible, will fly in from California just for the lousy hamburger and a great afternoon.

Folks, Aldo above is the real deal. If you can make that lunch I'm sure you will find it one of the best meetings you could attend. Aldo's an old hat at this and is very good at organizing these events! :praise:

Anyone who has not attended a meeting like this has no clue as to what they are missing. The only reason I have lunch is because we meet at noon and that's the politically correct time to eat lunch. Yeah, there's a little work involved, but I've been substantially overpaid by the knowledge and friendships I've gained.

Again, anyone within a few hours drive of Merrillville, IN will find this well worth their time.
