I have heard from several people to just leave my business cards in random places. I even mentioned jokingly to my wife, while at the bookstore, "maybe I should leave my business card in all the real estate/investing books." I am just wondering your opinon on whether you think this is a "bad" thing to do or am I just worrying too much about image? Tell me your opinions. :)

Thanks,
Ryan

Ryan,

I will tell you that I am an extremist when it comes to business card distribution.

For me who cares about how one would perceive ones business ethics for leaving cards all around.

I look how many people I've helped and how many more I will help.

I leave cards every where I go and so do my personal bird dogs.

I leave cards at the library inside books about foreclosure, FSBO & bankruptcy.

I leave cards in bathrooms

I simple have what is called a sight rule. If you are in my sight, you get a card.

Ryan,
Let me clarify, I am a student of John's so I can tell you what he has taught me.
better yet, I will just tell you what I do !

Library: banruptcy books, credit repair books, forclosure books, home repair books, legal self help books, you get the idea.

Book store books, same areas.

I go to Sears, JC pennies, Home depot, Lowes, Wholesale tool places, wallmart, target, kmart, ect.
I leave on top of paint cans, plumbing, basicly any and everywhere that is home related. Somewhere others are trying to fix their homes up.

If I go $ general or other $ type stores. I leave them all over....... These folks are thrifty or in need of finacial help. I shop there as a rule for name brand products... I fall on the REALLY cheap side! :SM062:

When I go to yard sales, I leave my card with the home owners. This is 2 fold, I can also offer to buy all their left over product ( I have flea market booths) and they can be interested in selling the home.
That brings me to... I have a stack in my booths, at the counter of the flea markets, ect.

You can't over do it on the card thing. Pass them out when ever and where ever. That is John's rule! LOL

Joe gerard the worlds greatest car salesman from Detroit (merolis chevrolet) said he gave his cards out on trains and threw them in the air when teams scored points at sporting events, he followed that up with stories that illustrated how he sold cars to people as a result of those actions!

As Jim said above, you can never give to many away or find new ways of doing it! :SM040: :SM128: :SM058: Throw a card party and make it your bird dog party in the end!

Get tips, I have started to hand out my card to old friends I run into that I have not seen. It is much easier than just writing my number on a piece of paper plus they now know what I do.
