Here is a good example of a rehab gone bad. This is a house I tried to purchase a few months ago. This is the before picture. It may not be totally visable but the timbers above the front door have been completely destroyed by water. There was no choice, these timbers had to go.
Here is the before picture.

I believe the new owner is an investor but have no proof. Take a good look at this after, or in progress, picture. They did replace the timbers with a traditionally framed roof but notice it does not line up with the existing structure. It looks horrible from the street.
They are also creating another problem. The new roof will block out sunlight from two windows making the interior of the house a bit darker.
All around, a very poor job.
Here is the after.

ROFL! Maybe you should mail them this picture with a small note asking for a HUGE favor... Tell them you want the name of the "contracted labor" so that you can put them in your "useless vendors" file.
Seriously though, it looked like a cute house until they did that. What a shame.

it definately is a nice house... however, i wonder what they are going to do with the lop-sided basement floor... I hope that they put this back up on the market so that we can go see it... :SM119:
