I haven't used them Jeff so I won't comment, but I will say you can find some information on course writers and purveyors by checking them out at these two sites: (Warning JohnTReed usually has something bad to say about everyone but he pulls no punches and plays no favorites exept maybe for himself Heh Heh!)

respectfuly I disagree with using John T Reed for anything !
IF you read the forums you know what courses that have been benificial to folks. Also don't forget John Locke books
bird dogging and subject 2 ... very valuable info that every investor should have in their arsenol.

I can't recommend any to you based on my lack of taking any, HOWEVER-
I wouldn't advise Carleton Sheets "No Down Payment" program unless you know absolutely nothing. I just paid $9.95 for the thirty day trial ($300 retail), and it was worth the $9.95, just for the free gifts (3 DVDs with "$120" retail value) that we can turn around and sell on Ebay, as they are fairly useless to myself. (When you get the course, you will quickly learn that it would be more appropriately named "LITTLE to No Down Payment.")
If you would like to read some unsettling information about certain "gurus" check out this link.

Warning: Mr. Reed doesn't have much nice to say about ANY of the gurus. :)

I am disappointed to see this post is going negative.
If it were not for teachers like Carleton Sheets most would not have ever known about real estate investing.
As a moderator on some of the top Real Estate Investing forums, I see this all the time let's not digress Professionals, as some of you have not even done a deal!
John T Reed I can not stand, but I own most of his books as he does have some great material, but he is an in the box thinker not much creative and that's ok folks.
Carleton Sheets teaches the basics at first and builds along the way, the same with most teachers.
You will find good and bad with all teachers in real estate just like any thing else in life.
Carleton Sheets has been responsible for 1,000's of successful real estate investors and even John T Reed has been responsible for the success of many.
Most negative comes from student that fail simply because they are looking for the pie in the sky "get rich overnight" Real Estate Investing is a long-term strategy to build wealth.
Last year I took 4 student under my wing at my cost and they all failed, but my students that took an investment in their education succeeded.
Stop discrediting others when you yourself have not achieved your own level of success.
Negative talk
Negative belief
No plan
Not willing to do something
All are simply a road to financial disaster.
Success = Passion + Fulfillment and results in financial freedom.

First John Michael, I have to agree, Carleton Sheets teaches the basics at first. I said that he should not take his course UNLESS he knew nothing. I took his course and found very little info that I did not know from other sources.
I would most CERTAINLY recommend this course if you are new to REAL ESTATE. He teaches (in THIS course) the ABSOLUTE BASICS. Want to know what a mortgage is? Buy this course. Want to HEAR about how many "succesful" real estate investors are out there because of his course? Buy this course. Want to hear OVER AND OVER that "no money down" deals are done "everyday"? Buy this course.

Joe Kaiser is a professional investor himself and expects the same from his students. Joe is more of a high-end property investors. Great teacher.
Lance young I know nothing about.
Chuck Smith's teachings are great as far as I am concerned
Mark Sumpter A lot of hype but not bad
Before taking any of their full courses order or read a book see if this teacher can reach you deep down in side.
If you can not relate to a teachers material, they are not the one for you.

Second, you told me in an email to myself that out of 4 people you took under your wing "at no cost" only ONE failed. Which am I supposed to believe? Your email or your post? I'm sorry, but I am a very skeptical person, and your credibility just took a major dive in my book.
First of all young man if you are going to QUOTE me QUOTE me correctly.
What my post was talking about were four people that I worked with hand and hand for weeks at a time.
What I told you was four people like yourself that I gave books to and coached them to success as I agreed to do for you this year, now I wonder why!
I take 8 to 10 people every year of my choice (sometimes more sometimes less) who I believe have something within, just as I did for you. Sometimes I am correct about them and sometimes I am not. However, one thing I know, I give my all to my students who truly want to succeed and they give their all to me.
I love the appreciation of youth today!
Now we are done!

Ryan, we all step in IT every now and again. I think events of late have got you upset and out of touch in a general sense of the word. John has the power to take down objectionable posts around here but decided to address your comments in open forum.
I think (opinion :fart2:)that if you will read the materials John has provided and believe that he will help you, that being the man he is, he will again resume the program with you.
I have learned that John doesn't play games and what he says, is really what he will do. I can assure you those who failed before couldn't stay committed to their original goals. Stay the course and apply yourself, John doesn't abandone people but he doesn't take unwarranted slights either. At least not very well! :SM009:

just wanted to add that i am a newby but i believe that you cannot expect to automatically suceed just because you take a course. you have to apply yourself and do not wait for a coach to tell you what to say word for word or what to do on a daily basis. of course you will want their expertise & opinion but they cannot be succesful for you. i look at it like any other course. the teacher teaches & then at the end you take a test. it is up to you and only you as to whether you pass or fail. now if the coach guarentees succes this is a different story. i'll expect succes no matter what. :xxrotflma
