Hi,

Ohioan here, Hilliard, just outside Columbus.

I've been calling around lately to learn more about different commercial listings that are available in my area, and sadly, not one realtor will ever follow up and add me to their mailing lists or send info or anything, and I've even asked about specific ads they've run in the newspaper that are of interest that I’d like to learn more about – but no one replies…

Now I don't know if other women out there run into this, but I've had the feeling each time that I'm not taken seriously because I'm female (each realtor has been male). Yet I’ve given my complete name, business I own and operate (alone – without hubby) and more, yet not a one follows up -and I want to buy, darn it!

Now before when hubby and I went buying to build the home we’re in now, a main contracting company here in Central Ohio treated us like dirt because we are self employed and the sales rep pre-turned us down in the initial meeting with zero info on us other than the fact that we were self-employed (forget about the fact that we’d also owned and rented out other homes – this guy was a total loser and refused to discuss our buying a home build). So we went to their competitor and had no problem getting financing and our home built. It’s beautiful.

So I'm turning here now, since locals seem to have issues pre-qualifying people for commercial properties. I love your book, Dan, and know you wouldn’t mistreat a person because he or she, especially, is self-employed and has been for about 20 years now.

So “Hi” everyone!

Welcome DB! You had it 80% right girl. In real estate 20% of the agents do 80% of the sales, I don't believe you have found the top producer yet.

The other 80% are indeed lackluster and poorly motivated in many cases, but a good top producer will generally do back-flips for you if it's necessary to get a listing or a sale.

Obviously you are willing to inquire so continue to look and ask for a top producing commercial agent, many here will say that an inexperienced agent will work hard for your business but stick to the seasoned expert as they will save you from disaster through knowledge of their business.

Tip: Tell the receptionist you want to speak with the lead broker/owner: Then ask Him or Her who that top producing agent is. The front desk receptionists look like the proverbial deer in the headlights when you ask them who is the top producer.

Welcome aboard DB!
