Okay, here's the first post. How cool is that?
Hey, Dan, I just wanted to say that this is a really good idea you had, to have local posting mixed in with the overall site. That's awesome!
Anyway, Okay Texas, now's your chance to be heard. As for me, I'm still pretty new at REI, focusing mainly on lease options and rentals in the DFW area. I use other investment strategies whenever I can, also. I am not an expert at anything in particular, but I will help out wherever I can. Feel free to PM me anytime.

I'm in the Highland Lakes region of the Texas Hill Country. Elizabeth has it right, I'm a real windy guy, in person or posting, however I can barely stand to talk on the phone.

I'm heading over to the HUD auction in Georgetown (or Round Rock, I can't remember) on Thursday night. There's at least one and possible 3 that I might bid on. If I don't get anything there I'm going to write an offer on the unit I posted on here last night about wanting to try a "short sale".

I realize that's a bit of a drive for you Metroplexers, and not too close to Elizabeth, although I may try to drive down to her area to look at a couple of units if none of my local plans pan out.

Good to hear from you Frank! That's some gorgeous country up your way.

I'm wondering what time the auction in Roundrock is going to be held on Thursday. It's possible I could come, depends on the time, though. If I can't make it this time, I would love to get to one with you at another time.
I have a real odd 3-11 rotation at work, but can sometimes trade days off. I'm sure it would be a great learning experience.

OK, the next auction for this area is this Thursday, March 17th.

It's at the Wingate Inn motel, on Interstate 35 in Round Rock. I'm not sure which exit that is but Mapquest will probably show it. There's about 35 properties, from about Buda up to Killeen and Copperas Cove and back down to here.

Elizabeth if you're still on vacation it might be good to come up. I'm supposed to meet up with the guy who called me about a couple of listings. If he "walks me in" he can get a commission on any purchases I make, without affecting the net proceeds to HUD/

If nothing else it might be nice to finally put a "real" picture with a name, if you know what I mean, LOL.

I have no avatar. I want them to allow me to put up my family crest. It's a wagging tongue on a field of flowing verbiage!!

I have to figure out some bills now.
