On a county assesment site where I live I can get owner names, and all info on houses in the county including tax info, comps, etc.. My question is this. If I put in the BANK names it shows the homes that the banks took over or currently hold the mortgage for. Is it safe to assume that I can call these banks and make offers on any of these homes??? If anyone can advise how they would use this info, I would greatly appreciate it. The link is attatched. If you would scroll down and place say "CITIBANK" in the owners name section it will list all homes that they are currently holding.

Thats very interesting. I hope someone comes along and is able to give us an answer.

Im looking at my auditor's site all the time but Ive never thought of it as a way to find REOs or the like. It does seem like they are bank owned when you search that way. If that is the case, I think yea, you could make an offer on the property. I think you'd probably have to go through the Loss mitigation branch of each bank maybe? Not entirely sure though...

I know one thread on here has several loss mitigation numbers for different banks.

Whats the real answer guys(or gals)??

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has negotiated with the banks also

Just call the bank's REO department. Smaller banks are likely to just fax you a list, mega monster banks usually have their properties listed in bulk and no so much interested in dealing with individual investors. This info is at least a few years old, so the rules may have changed.
