The state of Georgia is not offering Tax Lien Certificates. None of the current 159 counties issue tax lien certificates. Instead local counties offer Georgia Tax Deeds which are restricted by a 12 month redemption period. When a Georgia home owner refuses to pay their property taxes then the taxing district will foreclose and sell the property to the winning bidder at annual tax sale auction, the holder/owner of the tax deed redeemable may seek ownership of the property no sooner than 12 months after the tax deed was issued.
