I feel sorry for first country to launch the tiniest of nukes. We'll eliminate them completely to the point that a smoking hole would be all that remained of someone stupid enough to launch their feeble arsenal.

Here's the thing for me.........
I agree, and know Citgo etc, are run for and by Chavez, makes me sick our govt allows it to continue.
May sound barbaric, but it'd be nice if we could just take it away from them, seize all assets, and sell it to the highest American bidder, donating the sale money to some project, like lending money to investors to rehab houses..........;-) I can dream right?
However, back to reality......
I also know that there are thousands of Americans who are employed by Citgo etc, and to boycott these companies, would hurt them.
So, i'm torn, to be frank.
Thankfully, the Citgo station here, is dirty, run down, and priced higher than others, and further away than other stations.
So, I don't use it's services anyway, and never heard of the other place.
Sadly, we are seen as weak around the world...........the good news to me though, is that we are not, I agree with Dan.
I pity the country idiotic enough to fire on us.
I just hope they don't aim for central command, cause it's just down or up wind from my home.
Anyway, like I said, not sure what to do about Citgo, but since we don't use them, I'll error on the side of Dan's Mom.........Mom's are always right. :-)

Hmmm....Horses as our means of transportation would stick it to the politicians but there's pros and cons of using horses.
Star Trek's transporter type would be better.....
Even items from our mom's need to be checked for their accuracy.
Here's an excerpt from Snopes.com about the content of Dan's post --
"Both Circle K and Petro Express are privately owned chains of convenience stores, the former an international property of Quebec-based Alimentation Couche-Tard, and the latter based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Neither is owned by Citgo or the Venezuela government. Although Petro Express outlets did sell Citgo gasoline, the company announced in October 2006 that the chain was phasing out sales of Citgo Petroleum Corp. gasoline and by 2007 would no longer be vending the brand"
The whole write-up (it's fairly long and includes the complete text of Dan's post) can be read at: http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/citgo.asp

WHEN that happens let's just hope we have someone in the Whitehouse willing to take the steps needed. Unfortunately for our country I fear we are likely to elect Hillary or someone like her and there is absolutely no way Hillary, Obama or most of the other candidates likely to be elected by the "dumbmasses" will have the strength of character or the stomach to do what will be needed.

Thanks for the rest of the story Phil and I'd have to agree with Tim on the poor selection of future candidates to choose from.
I should know better than to take the bait here but, at this point, Mitt Romney has my vote, then again I was a Ross for Boss advocate as well.

Dan,
I too am not real thrilled with the selection of candidates we have at the moment.
I've not decided which if any I can support, from either side of the isle.
The thing I did notice recently, was a speech/interview with Romney though, where he described in great detail what he did for his state regarding health insurance.
Now, I'm not saying his plan was without faults, as I have not looked into it enough.
However, the 'nutshell description' sounded pretty good to me, and better than anything else being offered up or talked about these days.
I tell ya, if one candidate presented a strong plan to cover three major issues, and got the message accross loud and clear, they could not be beat.
Who would that be?
Not a clue?
The main three issues as I see them would be: (not in this order, just main things I hear from most folks).
1. Some way to everyone in America to be covered for health care....
Being self insured (read that, no health insurance) for YEARS, it's a topic near and dear to me.
2. The war, everywhere. If there are results, someone needs to trumpet them, and if not, make sure something changes.
3. Immigration: Secure the border, do something to handle those already here, fairly.
If one candidate lays out a plan to handle all three effectively, somewhere in the middle, not too far left, or right, then they will not be able to be beat.
Have you noticed, the front runners on both sides of the isle seem to be clinging and climbing desperately toward or into the middle?
Something I completely understand, since yes, I call myself a conservative, but to be frank, socially, I'm rather liberal.
I just beleive in fiscal responsibility, and self reliance, hence my clinging to my conservative roots.
Anyway, enough politics for now.
Interesting read here..........

Maybe you should be a political campaign manager Jim. That's good strategy!

Dan,
I've actually worn that hat before.
My family is full of elected officials.
In fact, for campaigns I was involved in, we had a 100% success rate.
Only one loss in the family EVER, and that was by less than 1% of the vote...........and the winner literally spent about 10 times what we did on the campaign.
Scared the guy so much, he eventually hired my relative to be his 'head deputy', and run the office.......paying her more than the elected position paid.
My first campaign work was when I was 12, and for years afterwards, I worked on TONS of local campaigns, and a few national ones.
I was lucky enough to meet in person the first President Bush when he was running for office, and my family has known Dennis Hastert for years.
I even paddled a canoe race with him when I was a teen. (I beat him)
So, politics?
Not for me, but only because I've seen it from all sides.
I will admit this though, my folks, while being politically active, never really got involved for any reason other than changing things for the better.........often times because they were not happy with those who were already in office.
Beginning with a school board election in the late 70's.
So, perhaps calling them politicians is not the right label.
Anyway, happy labor day weekend.

John Edwards has more character in his pinky finger than the whole bush administration.
He also has plenty of courage to do what ever needs to be done.

Hello Gang
Some of us came close to bickering over the topic of religion.
Now we are toying with politics?
It seems some topics are certain to cause division.
Usually it's politics or race or immigration or other topics that divide people.
What's next abortion?
IMHO, it would seem controversial topics may should be taboo on a real estate page.
I go along with the suggestion of always be nice
and I would add, lets stay on topic.
Just my opinion.

Somehow, that does not surprise me.........
Dan, PLEASE, NEVER EVER use the word, "Jimbo" in my direction again.
I hate that.
(Not that you had a clue, hence me saying something now.)
And politics not being discussed, sounds good to me.
Anything to keep the liberals quiet! :SM023:
So, what's the next topic?
Immigration?
Kidding........
Have a GREAT weekend, I'm off to ride,
